The 5 Elements of Healthy Ageing

Our equipment aims at improving or maintaining the five elements of healthy ageing that naturally deteriorate with time.

Here you can find out about the five elements that have been proven to assist a healthy ageing process.

1. Aerobic Fitness

This is the ability to transfer oxygen around your body to exercising muscles. This is vital for everyday exercises such as walking, gardening and climbing steps. Improving your aerobic fitness can have great health benefits such as decreased risk of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure

2. Muscular Strength

This is your body’s ability to move against resistance through muscular force. This is hugely important for everyday activities such as household chores, walking, lifting tins and boxes and so on. By maintaining this we can stop your muscles from becoming frail and lower the risk of muscle injuries.

3. Balance

Balance is having the ability to remain stable whilst moving between places and movements. Balance is linked to strength and flexibility. Exercising regularly can help reduce the risk of a fall from poor balance which does deteriorate with age and various health conditions.

4. Flexibility

This is the ability to move through a normal range of motion. Infrequent use can cause limited flexibility. It is vital for daily movements as well as tasks like getting up and down from a bed or the floor. Good flexibility decreases the risk of muscle injuries.

5. Social Well-being

Good mental and social health is vital for confidence and a positive outlook on life. A main factor in this is helping to reduce loneliness through social contact.
